Understanding the Zodiac

In cooperation with the BBC and other UK media the comedian and co-presenter of astronomy programs (with Brian Cox) Dara O'Briain has once again released a joke on the unsuspecting British public. Shame it's an old joke and not funny at all - he is trying to fool the public with the 'discovery' that the constellation Ophiuchus establishes a 13th zodiac sign. Nothing could be further from the truth, which was already known in about 100 AD. Unfortunately, the publicly funded BBC is buying into it and has placed this misinformation on their website, in yet another attempt to debunk astrology. What are they so afraid of? Here follows a link to an excellent article written by my colleague Deborah Houlding, a brilliant writer, lecturer and teacher, who is revealing O'Briain's foolery and setting the record straight.
